Hi KT, actually I only know about this forum after I submitted my application. So I didn't write anything in Sec10! But if you read through the experiences of others, I think it's best if you emphasize again in Sec10 about your intention to visit UK is to travel, work is only coincidental to support your travelling plans, and you will come back to Malaysia after 2 years.

I submitted my application early March (I think 6th), then have to wait until 26th for my interview and I got my visa on 26th afternoon itself. I have a friend who submitted her application on 29th March and her interview is scheduled 18th April. I think more people applied end of March to avoid the new fees, so maybe the interview waiting time will be longer. Not sure.

I wore a buttoned-up shirt, jeans and sneakers to the interview. I saw another girl with formal clothes there and she got the visa too. Don't think apparel is very important as long as you don't look sloppy.

Hope this helps.

KT, here are some answers:
(1) I stated I have RM20k.
(2) I stated I don't intend to study.
(3) No I don't have a job in UK yet. Might want to travel a bit first.
(4) Interview duration is different for each person. Mine was about 10 or 15 minutes (but it sure feel like a long time). Some were in there longer but I'd say 15 minutes is the average.
(5) No I don't know anyone in the UK. No letters, no invitations.
(6) I put the hostel name and address that I will stay when I arrive in London. I haven't even booked the hostel. Just printed out from internet and attach to my application saying that I want to stay there.
(7) Fill in the form and questionnaire with hand is good enough.

Tang, you just caught me on a good day, not much things to do at work ;) My travel agent got me a Qantas one-way ticket. So I'll transit over at Singapore with MAS before flying to London with Qantas. I bought the ticket after I got the visa, of course. I don't think it's necessary to buy a ticket before knowing you'll get the visa or not. Waste money, right? All the best in your application, and hope to see you in the UK!

Now I'm a little bit worried will I get through the customs at Heathrow Airport. Hmmm. It'll kill me if I have to turn back.

Hey peeps, i happen to stumble upon this forum earlier and was quite delighted to know that so many of us are actually gonna be in the UK soon, let's all meet up!

i'm planning to go on the first of june, though my visa has been approved.

To all those waiting for the interview session, dont sweat, my interviewer was a very cool dude, we hardly talked about my visa application at all, believe me, the entire conversation was about my backpacking trip in NZ and Australia, he was backpacking in NZ as well, so we shared alot of stories about interesting places and our hitch hiking experiences, it was a very good chat.

Just be confident in your english language and let them know you have a passion for traveling, don't let's spoil our image by portraying our intention to go UK is to WORK!

with that said, good luck to u guys outthere...

Marcus

p/s: let me know if u ppl wanna hook up or something in the UK, we can go backpacking together!

will it affect my application if i do not submit the travel plan?

thanks for help.

I didn't submit my travel plans together with my application. Maybe that's why they called me in for the interview. But I prepared a one-month travel plan when I went for my interview and explained more extensively to the interviewer (verbally) what I want to do the first month I'm there in the UK.
