Hi,

Can anyone already in UK help with this question?
I remembered somebody mentioned applying International Driving License before I leave, but I checked from the internet, we can drive up to 12 months from entry date. Is that for sure?

The 12 month limit is applicable if you are in the UK with your national driving licence. If you have the International Driving Permit, you may drive until your IDP expires.

Thanks Hien,
From my knowledge, IDP also 12 months only, from the date of application. So seems like not necessary lor, unless wanna drive in other Euro countries.

Hello ayesha,

Travel Plan/Travel Itinerary is very various and depends on individual where they wanted to visit. And i believe that i much more better you do put some effort and do some research on this in case you need to attend interview than you able to answer what those officer ask.

Accomodation sponsor... Do you have any sponsor/inviter ?? If yes, just ask them to wrote a simple letter stated that he/she will provide you accomodation when u at UK.

I have called JPJ Malaysia to ask about international driving permit, the procedure is very simple just fill up the form at any JPJ offices and you need to pay RM150.
However this permit need to be renewed on yearly basis we can't do straight 2 years and need to renew it in Malaysia. I decided not to proceed as I can utilise the first 12 months by using my current driving license so the remaining 12 months..hhhmmm

First of all, I'm absolutely grateful to the wonderful people in this forum who had, time and again, tirelessly provided answers and solutions to our never-ending questions about the visa but no offense, sometimes, I get the idea that some of us here are waiting to be spoon-fed with information. Some take it for granted that someone else will help them out with their questions without doing thorough research and covering some basic fundamentals about what one should know as a UK WHM applicant. That defeats the entire idea of being a knowledgeable and purposeful traveller. You're supposed to be independent and if you hit a rock, then ask for help. But don't expect information to be dropped on your lap.

Also, while there is nothing wrong with trying to know what the other Malaysians are doing or flying or staying, I think it's time that some of us actually discard our own comfort zones and open ourselves up to other possibilities....Try to make new friends in UK instead of relying on the good-old-Malaysian bunch. Take the plunge, get a guidebook and go! If you're lost, go figure out a way. That's when you truly learn and grow-as what travelling is supposed to teach you.

I really don't mean to offend anyone with this post but I just want people to truly understand the golden opportunity of this visa. Be a real traveller. UK is magical, if you want it to be.

Cheers.
