First of all, I'm absolutely grateful to the wonderful people in this forum who had, time and again, tirelessly provided answers and solutions to our never-ending questions about the visa but no offense, sometimes, I get the idea that some of us here are waiting to be spoon-fed with information. Some take it for granted that someone else will help them out with their questions without doing thorough research and covering some basic fundamentals about what one should know as a UK WHM applicant. That defeats the entire idea of being a knowledgeable and purposeful traveller. You're supposed to be independent and if you hit a rock, then ask for help. But don't expect information to be dropped on your lap.
.....

I really don't mean to offend anyone with this post but I just want people to truly understand the golden opportunity of this visa. Be a real traveller. UK is magical, if you want it to be.

Cheers.

I totally agree with yingtey, I also got the feeling some are waiting to be spoon-fed. We're going out of this spoon-fed educated country, start to be independent now. If not too confident about the travel plans or letters, no harm asking for comments/advice. Just don't ask for samples right away without any effort of your own.

Hi, everyone..

I just got my interview delayed the 2nd time to June 18. I am very worried.

Was wondering if anyone got their interview delay before and is it a bad sign??

Many Thanks

Also, while there is nothing wrong with trying to know what the other Malaysians are doing or flying or staying, I think it's time that some of us actually discard our own comfort zones and open ourselves up to other possibilities....Try to make new friends in UK instead of relying on the good-old-Malaysian bunch. Take the plunge, get a guidebook and go! If you're lost, go figure out a way. That's when you truly learn and grow-as what travelling is supposed to teach you.

absolutely completely agree with you..

Skeetzy,

You're welcome. Thanks for the link about Tier 5 too, seems like quite sure already if you read through the pdf file.
Act fast loh... hope to see you in UK.:)

Hi there Zawa and to the rest!

I'm very new to this forum and this is my 1st post! Nice 'meeting' everyone here! I'm a Malaysian, 26, Chinese...

Previously I was thinking to apply in Dec 08, so that I can leave after Chinese New Year. But now I'm really really worried and anxious as I read the link about Tier 5 (which seems to be implemented real soon). :(

Does anyone knows when WHM visa will be abolished and replaced by Tier 5? Esp. those of you who are already in UK, kindly help us to check?

Thanks so much in advance!

Cheers!

It is scheduled to be implemented in the autumn / 3rd quarter of 2008, meaning either August or September. No definite dates have been announced. The best you can do is to contact VFS and ask them about it.

Thanks Hien...

Another concern-
My only commitment now in Msia is my Car Loan, I intend to sell it off if my visa is successful. However, I read previous post whereby applicants were asked on how they are going to support the existing loan when in UK.

1. So can I just tell them I'll sell off my car after visa is approved or do I have to sell it now as proof?

2. Is it better to have a sponsor when I only have RM16K in my bank account? As I thought I wouldn't wanna trouble my sister.

3. Did anyone of you go UK alone and already there without regrets? Is it a wise thing to do?
I will be going alone at this moment, thus have to come to a major decision in my life!

4. Is UK really a wet and cold country? Did you guys have a hard time there initially?
It's really my dream to experience life in Europe, but somehow terrified as I'm alone.

Thanks and great weekend!

Hi there,

I had only 15K in my bank account and I had no problems. As long as you have some idea how you're going to support yourself (even though work shouldn't be your priority) for the first three months and how you're going to spend the money.

I've never been to UK(but soon: June 20th), but I've travelled both South East Asia and Europe alone-and I've no regrets, whatsoever. Have been on the road for close to two years now. You'd soon learn that it's actually really easy to make friends and travellers usually have each other's back. If you're still worried, register yourself with www.couchsurfing.com and look up some people to make friends with. It's like Facebook for travellers. Their hospitality and friendship come without strings attached!

Can't guarantee you about the weather but summer in Europe was brilliant.

Don't worry-travelling is never a bad experience. You'll be surprised how much fun you'd have once you get the hang of it.

Hi all,

I've been reading all the postings and i feel so excited about applying for this visa. I've been thinking abt doing this for so many years and i really hope i'll do it this year!

For those who's already been there, I wanna ask if we need to pay taxes when we work there part-time? What about all medical coverage?

Hi there folks,

Can I know how to type in the application form as I cannot edit the Adobe file at all. Or does it have to be hand written actually? Urgent as I hope to submit the form asap. Thanks!
