Hi. i'm new here. Could someone help to clarify a few points?

1. Is the WHM going to be closed after this yr to be replace by point system? <http://www.ukimmigration.com/five-tier-points-based-system-overview.htm>
2. Can we apply now and state the date we want to go over is in april next yr?
3. Sorry about this but i'm not sure how to get the pricing for the budget accommodation at the links here, i could only know there is B&B but not the price for the night.

Thanks and hope to know the answer soon.

[ Edit: Corrected accom link. ]

Hello Janiss,

1. Is pretty confirm that it will implement Tier 5 which replacing WHM somewhere 3rd Quarter this year. It should be around Aug - Sept.

2. No. You are only allowed to set your departure date 89 days from the date you apply. If you apply now, the latest date you must depart is Sept.

3. It showed with the price. Might be the hostel you are looking is not updated with the price per night.

[ Edit: Fixed mistake. ]

Hi all,

I've been reading all the postings and i feel so excited about applying for this visa. I've been thinking abt doing this for so many years and i really hope i'll do it this year!

For those who's already been there, I wanna ask if we need to pay taxes when we work there part-time? What about all medical coverage?

yes,do we have to pay taxes and do we get medical coverage?

On my god, we need to pay tax! can anyone tell us how much is the tax? and what's the income range to be taxed? We will be earning so little there yet still need to fork out $$ for tax?

Hi there folks,

Can I know how to type in the application form as I cannot edit the Adobe file at all. Or does it have to be hand written actually? Urgent as I hope to submit the form asap. Thanks!

I use Adobe Acrobat Professional to type in. supposed there's a automatic 'form fill' function, they detect area to be filled, but seems like not all are created as filled area, so I create text box to fill myself.

I'm unable to create any text box, maybe because I'm using Adobe Reader 7.0 & not Acrobat Professional. :(

Hi Shalai
Alternatively, you can submit the using online application form. It is now available for Malaysia.
You can know more from this website: http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/
Anyway, you need to print after completing it and submit to VFS.

Good luck!

Hi Fiona,

Thanks for yr info, it's very useful!

By the way, did you apply using this form and was it approved? Are you already in U.K? If so, do you know about the taxes we have to pay?

Hi all, thanks to this thread that I am here in the UK already.
I just arrived 5 days ago and I'm settling down in Sheffield with a room rented.
However, cash is running low and stuffs over here is quite expensive and I need to save for another places around the UK.
I'm still jobless. As this is my first time doing this, I have no idea of where and how to get a job though I've already emailed my CV to job agencies in the UK and visited them personally.
Anyone can help to get a job in Chinese restaurant or any other places without tax?

Cheers,
edt

Hi Eddie,

Congrats to your successful visa! Hope I will be as lucky as u...

I got this info from my friend who is already in U.K.
Many recruitment agencies in UK like Manpower, Adecco, Reeds, etc, but the problem is that when you walk into these offices/shops they will tell you to “CHECK ONLINE FOR JOBS VACACIES”.

With this, you can try Brook Street Recruitment Centre. Brook Street is a company like Adecco/Kelly Service back in Malaysia that find jobs for us. This centre found my friend a job within 24 hours, I guess it should be a good start. Pls call and look for the recruiters personally at their office for initial 'interview'. They will then call you if there's any job postings.

Hope this helps, gd luck!
