Hello Andy

Stay in the old part, of Amsterdam. It is the most beautiful. Even the drugs and prostitution are quite sophisticated in the old part of the town. And it is central to most attractions.

I will find a link, to book a hostel, and post it on this thread.
U want to stay, in a hostel, dont u, rather than a hotel?

The few hostels in my own city that I know, I found quite horrendous. Heard good stories about the Flying Pig, though, and Brinker's is reportedly good for the party-oriented.

Hello Andyroo

Just google hostel amsterdam and lots of options will come up. They will give information about location, prices and facilities, in the hostels.
If us have a credit card, u can actually book them, in advance, on the internet.

Hi Andyroo
I travel to amsterdam about 6 times a year and I always stay in hostels. The best ones that I have found are The Flying Pig Downtown, Winstons, The Bulldog and The Meeting Point. Winstons and the Bulldog are more like hotels as they offer nice single and double rooms as well as dorms. The Flying Pig is a great party hostel and the meeting Point is very cheap and friendly. In fact I am going to the Dam on the 24th Jan and staying at the Meeting Point.
Enjoy your trip!

I've been to the dam a fair few times and while West is lush I love to stay in hostels, the Flying pig which is already mentioned is grand but there’s also a place called the Meeting Point on Warmoestraat, it’s 15 min walk form central station, there’s a 24 hour lock in bar and the people that own it I swear are part of some Dam Mafia!) I love it there!!!

hi Aaron
15 min walk to The Meeting Point?? Did you get lost on the way? its just round the corner from Central Station. Mind you it could take 15 mins getting back to the station after a few days in amsterdam

Hahaaha! Good point, and yes, for some reason I always get a little lost finding it! But it's all part of the Dam fun!!

I just thought of another place, bit more expensive but i liked it - Stayokay Vondelpark drom was about 20euros a night

I personally like "The Quentin" in the Leidseplein. It is so close to everything and the Paradiso and Melkweg are around the corner, so a lot of the bands stay there and what not. VERY chill staff, comfortable rooms. It is close to 50 euro a night depending, but if you don't mind its worth it. They have a web site, check it out!
