Hiya there...

I know there are a few threads about this but would really appreciate someone to clarify a few questions for me...

In order for me to qualify for a 2nd year working visa if i ever want one...i understand there are a few conditions..i have checked out the Oz imm website & just still a little confused..

Im aware of the postcoded areas you need to work in..
Does cash in hand work qualify?
What sort of work will i need to do
Will i need to apply for a TFN (tax file Number) for seasonal work? any help on this would be marvellous....

By cash in hand in hand i take it you mean to avoid paying income tax?? If so then i don't think immigration will be too impressed with that... ;)

IIRC you don't have to have a tax number but if you don't you pay something like 47% tax instead of 28%-ish.

You need to do 'harvest work', it tells you on the form what exactly that means - http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1263.pdf

most cash in hand jobs are illegal! because there is no paper trace! which normally means employee and employers are attempting to beat the system! its a no go!

most companys dont even want to pay by cash! i bet you wont get a payslip! so how do you even prove to australian authoritys that you even worked there? a letter wont work! one needs a payslip for evidence.

you need a tax file number to work with, but i am aware that you can work without one but not a clever dicision as you will be taxed via (EMERGENCY TAX) which means you will be paying tax at a huge rate 40-50% and it will be difficult to get this back since you are on a visa as your time is limited.

in general all the laws in one coutry in particular english speaking countrys applys to another english speaking country.

if you want a 2nd year working holiday visa for 3 months you got to do harvesting work at some point in your 1st year working holiday visa.

theres harvesting work and theres some other kind of work you can do.
but you also have to be aware of the various times and seaons...forget about living and working in sydney / melbourne if you plan in doing this...you will normally be about 500km-1000km from the major citys!

harvest work = picking fruit, vegs...HUGE HEAVY MELONS - sitting in a huge field on your own 9-6 for 3 months...getting paid pittons! havent done it myself but my friends have and most of them quit after a week!
