Hi,
Any people out there who traveled in Suriname? What places are a must see. And are there enough touroperators in Paramaribo to book a trip to the interior. Is travelling alone ok?
Thanks, Michael.

Hi Utrecht,
there are a lot of People from Surinam living in Holland,so I could think there are some cultural organisations.
Here in Bonaire they Surinam Residents organize sometimes guided Trips to Surinam.
The visit mostly Paramaribo and go to the Djungle, that is all what I know so far.
I dont think this the type of visit Surinam what you are looking for.
but maeby the have a consulat not to far away from Utrecht.
poor information from my sidebut maeby better then nothing.

Thanks Marlis. You are right, there some organisations offering lots of trips to Suriname, either totally organized for several weeks, or just tours of 1 day to 1 week into the jungle. I just wondered if showing up in Paramaribo would be enough to book a tour over there, I don't like to have everything prebooked.
Do you know if there is a Lonely Planet of that region, the only one I can find is South America, but that is really crap.
Thanks again..Michael. ;)

Hi Utrecht,
had a short look at lonely planet online.
found not so much infos about Surinam, but was not reading all the links.
since Paramaribo is not so small you would think there schould be some travel agents around.
I will keep my ears alert and let you know if I can find something
usefull for you.

Thanks again, I guess there must be some in Paramaribo. The only small 'problem' is that probably I am going there in August, so it's high season. Also, I've seen that inland, there are only accomodation possibilities for 2 persons sharing. I don't like paying double the price.

Parmaribo.

But also go to outback of the country. A place like Santigron is not far from Paramaribo but very great! ( bosnegers, old run away slaves are live there in africa style).
Or go to Albina and see the turtle.
Or go when you have ennouth money to Palumeu for a week. It's near Brazile and a very beatiful rainforest and indians.

Good luck
