I'm arriving in Sydney on 31 Jan and staying at Original Backpackers in King's Cross, Sydney for at least 3 nights.

Has anyone ever been there and have some infomation about the hostel?

Matt

I havn't heard of it, but if I am to be straight up with you, Kings Cross isnt the nicest of places to start out. You are a guy so not so bad, but if you can (unless its fab of course, I could be warning you for nothing), I would try and make your way to Bondi Beach at Noahs Backpackers or into Sydney central at Wake Up. They are lively reaosnable and well known backpackers to start out in. I worked at Noahs and can assure you you'd have no probs meeting people and having a good time there, it's right on the beach and next to all the shops and cafes, what more could you want?! If you need anymore info don't hesitate to message me.

Hi Matt,

sorry, don't know the "Original Backpackers", but I've stayed a few nights in one of the hostels at King's Cross and it was ok for me (though I'm not a guy..).
Well, the quarter got it's own "flair" (which reminded me a bit of the Reeperbahn in St. Pauli, Hamburg/Germany) with strange guys and druggies hanging around, but also lots of travellers and backpackers.
I wouldn't go there for a second stay, but it was interesting seeing it once.

Filika - Best regards,

Silke
