So Ive eventually handed in my notice, nearly booked my tickets, answered most of my questions.. but have one query.. I land in Cairns on my own late Feb, and will travel down towards Sydney.. how long on average would this take.. taking into mind, Ive no time limit and want to take in everything possible ..I'm giving it about two months to travel down, but have a feeling its too long..? Also does anyone have any suggestions on arrival packages..? Are they worth it or are you better off doing it as you go... If anyone is travelling same route same time let me know, would be nice to share the experience!
its hard to because it depends how long you want to stay in each place. Two months could be too long but there is so much to see on the east coast.
Whilst your in Cairns take a short trip up to Port Douglas, The Daintrees and Cape tribulation. Cairns is one of the best places to visit the reef from, aswell as Port Douglas. Slightly south from Cairns are the Whitsundays, there's 74 islands so take your pick, some of these islands offer the best diving in the reef. Further south are Capricorn islands and gerat keppel islands which have alot to offer, a little bit further south from there is fraser island, never been but herd its fantastic, keep going south and youll find Gold Coast and Byron bay
It's impossible to say. If you have as much time and are on your own then try not to plan, just go with the flow and enjoy it. A lot is dependent on the people you meet and if you may want to work on the way down. You might simply love a place and meet some people and want to stay. I spent 2 months on the east coast and it was perfect.I did everything I wanted to, and I did not feel rushed at all. But I would say 2 months is a good time estimate, just travel down casually as that will be plent of time.
Thanks for the replys guys.. Im nearly there just a wee bit confused now where to start as my options are either sydney or cairns... weather wise - sydney recommended.. any suggestions?!
