I just went to Kentucky after Christmas to visit some friends! I have a few tips for you, cause I'm one of them "cityfolk," so I hadn't a clue as to how I should compose myself.

Wear a John Deere hat and nobody will look at you twice:

Every meal contains biscuits (or cornbread, but biscuits are just so good).

Keep smalltalk with the waitress light and impersonal because they are being polite but professionally separated--in the northeast they often speak to you to make little conversation and try to "bond" with you, in Kentucky I found it was more of a formally polite conversation.

It's going to be hot in the summer, but I don't think I needed to tell you that.

Well I was only there for a few days, but I felt like I never wanted to leave by the end. These are the few things I was able to pick up on, and I'm sure there were more but I can't seem to remember them right now. Have a great time!!

Depends on what part of Kentucky we're talking about. If it's Lexington or Louisville, maybe more typical city dress. If it's anything else, don't worry! It's totally casual. Everything is down-home, laid back, very easy going. Not sure what kind of an experience the guy above had, but people in Kentucky are totally friendly. It is what you make it.

They get a fair amount of rain (it seems like everything that misses us, they get), and it's pretty hot in the summer (humidity). It's a great place to drive through, and I've spent nearly every summer camping there and in Tennessee for the last five to six years now.
