Plan to go to the Himalayas, India around Apr/May and very hazy plan of either visiting Edinburgh, Scotland in August (depending on budget and two friends) or South India (Bangalore, Mysore, Hampi, Cochin, Trissur, Munnar, Madurai, Thanjavur, Chennai) in Nov/Dec. Will nonetheless be travelling quite a bit on work around Sri Lanka (Trincomalee this month, for starters this year).
Scrapped the entire list above yesterday. Not going out of this country this year. Well, at least, I will be travelling within Sri Lanka.
Shall go Redang Island (Malaysia) in April..Yeah, as a Malaysian, I haven't been to this what-they-described-as paradise-like Island.
Set for NL and Austria somwhere from mid December to early Jan 2008 and maybe Italy in between. Can't wait
What ever place you visit please make sure you are not landed up going to the worst destinations of the world......
I have covered that in my blog.....I dont know whether I am allowed to put links or not - but if the admin allows I can put my blog URI
Just had to add my 2 Australian cents to this thread.....
Arriving in Mumbai on the 14th of March, staying in india for just over a month. I am then taking a flight to Istanbul and visiting Anzac cove on Anzac day. Then to Greece, Italy, Spain, Malta and France and then hoping to find some work in London for a couple of months. By the way does anyone have any tips about working in the UK?
Went to Czech Republic - Prague a weekend in January with 3 friends. Beautiful city, had such a great time there!
In march I´ll stay 2 weeks in Riga in Latvia, on a class trip.
Then I´m heading for South America around november!
I'm going to New Zealand this summer! Not sure about the dates yet, probably early June for two weeks. I might hit up Australia as well while I'm in the area...depends on how much money I have! I don't know where exactly I'm going in New Zealand yet though...I want to hit up both islands, maybe do some bungy jumping and possible a little snowboarding since it will be winter!
Where travelling to this year? Hmmm. Apart from a holiday in the Caribbean and skiing in Italy, it will depend on where work will take me:
- where there is a natural disaster (flooding, earthquakes, drought), resulting in a food-deprived population
- where there is political turmoil, resulting in a starving population
- where there is war, resulting in hunger
- where poverty gets so high, people kill to find food.
- where harvests are missed
- where el nino hits
- where the refugees move
I'm going to Beijing (with my Mandarin class) for about ten days in April over spring break! We're all seniors in high school, so this is kind of our last hurrah. Then in July I'll be going to Indonesia (for temples, beaches, spices and other stuff) and either Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan or Seoul (stopovers--but opportunities for seeing some cool cities!). I'll be spending a week in Lake Tahoe during August and then in September I'm flying to the UK, stopping over in London to see the family before going to the University of St Andrews in Scotland, where I'll be starting my first year of university!! and then back to San Francisco for Christmas.
Just got back from China!
Have to plan the next one now - I think a European one at the end of September, Croatia and Ireland are topping the list right now....
After finishing out a WHV year here in NZ, I'm off to:
Australia (just for a week )
Malaysia (inc. Borneo)
Macau and Hong Kong.
It's a hard life!
