I have 5 days for Krabi(or Phuket), i hear that Krabi is cheaper to stay compared to Phuket and all the islands accesible from Phuket can be enjoyed from Krabi... so need to know where to stay??? Wat about Koh Lanta? what activities can i go for.... ??? diving or day trips anything....
and yes i am a backpacker so budget considerations are there ...
Krabi is a very nice town with 2 nightmarkets, good shopping facilities & good restaurants and the nearby islands have beautiful beaches. We stayed on Koh Lanta (Long Beach & Klong Dao Beach) and on Koh Jum (which is on the way to Koh Lanta) where you can also find budget bungalows (very cheap & friendly is "Deep Forest Bungalows" at Long Beach/Koh Lanta or "Seasons Bungalows" on Koh Jum). Daytrips can be organized both in Krabi and on the islands.
If you stay over night in Krabi you`ll find some nice guesthouses in Cha Foah Road or opposite to Thai Hotel in the town centre.

Thx Winkekatze for ur reply...
did u go to Phuket from there??? what abt the nite life in Koh Lanta and Phuket???
There is night life in both Lanta & Phuket. Lanta is more chilled, beach bars (with fire dancing etc.) & restaurants. I had some great food at the beach restaurants in Klong Dao Beach I think
Phuket anything goes, Patong is full on, tacky bars, ladyboy bars, go-go bars, you name it they have it, that is only one resort, don't be put off. Other resorts will have bars, restaurants which are tamer. There is also some very high class restaurants in Phuket.
as Laura said - Lanta is more chilled while on Phuket you'll probably find anything, depends on what you prefer.
For my part I wouldn't go to Phuket, don't like the kind of tourists there..
Laura n Silke... thx ..
i m a lil confused... so many places and so lil time.... shud i divide my days ... like 3 days in krabi and 2 days in Phuket?? or shud i make my base camp at a single budget place and make day trips to all around.... ???? coz i heard accomodation in Phuket and Phiphi is expansive than in Krabi ...
