Hi heading out to Sydney on feb 6th and staying in Oz for around 2 months. I have never been travelling before and really don't know what to expect. I have no plan and have nothing booked for when i get there. Is that wise ? I am staying at the wake up hostel for 6 nights. Is it best to go without a plan ?
Scotslad - Im not sure this actually helps but im arriving in Sydney (@ wakeup) for 3 nights on 8th feb, travelling alone for the first time, and to be honest i have no plans either. Ill probably look at a few sites and get an idea of some of the "things not to miss" but often the best things are the ones you dont plan.
Im sure everyone will have different opinions, but for me ill just get a general idea of whats going on and then "wing it" a bit.
have a good one !
Im arriving in sydney 31st of this month stayin at wake up aswell, and just like you two, I havnt really got a plan...just gonna play it by ear i suspect, been told thats the best way to do it.
So take comfort in the fact tht if you get it wrong, there will be another couple of lads in sydney in the same predicament!
But think all should be good...hopefully
Yo dudes, i arrive in syd feb 2 and will also be staying at wake up....I dont really have any plans. Anyone wanna party?
Just dont make the mistake of staying in sydney which a lot of people do!!
i found a week in sydney was pleeeeenty, so yeah go as many places as you can
hey why dont the 4 of u hook up and rent a campervan and travel up the coast to cairns??
Is everyone staying in Wake Up?! lol. My friend and I head off on Thursday but wont reach Sydney until 11th Feb and staying in.. Wak up! hehe. Staying for about 3 4 months before going to NZ and Canada. I wouldn't worry about not having a plan, infact i think thats perfect!!
See you guys in Sydney?!
Sounds good to me. Get in touch if you all wanna meet up
hey if you only in aus for to months be carefull not to get sucked into sydney which it has a habit of doing make sure you do as much as you can have a good trip
No plan is the best plan! There is only so much you can organise, I'm all for sponaneity now that I'm back. I went for 3 months on my own and Sydney was my favourite place. I stayed in the Railway YHA, opposite from the Wake Up. Loved my time there. Go to the Ice Bar in Circular Quay though with a couple of people you meet, do the speed boat around the harbour, the helicopter ride over the harbour, the Blue Mountains, and the good old tour of the opera house. I brought a ticket to see a ballet on there the night before the performance for $25 dollars or something stupid, do it! Really don't worry it's amazing, I'm very jealous.
