I've finally booked my trip to Australia next year! Head off in march so im being good and starting to figure out all the little things now. Im going to travel around the "whole" of oz for about a year, and just wondering if i need to buy certain things. Im staying in hostels for the majority of the time soo....
Will i need water purifying tablets?
Will i need a mosquito net?

Which is all i have so far! so if anyone could help, my shopping list would be gratefull!

You won't need water purifying tablets, and you probably won't need a mosquito net.

But I do recommend you buy some roll-on insect repellant, such as Aerogard.

Some camping stores recommend water purifying tablets if you go camping in areas where you drink river water that may have native animal faeces in it and hence Giardia. But I've always drunk the water and never gotten sick. There are mosquitoes in Oz, but no diseases (at least down south). There may be Ross River Fever, I think, in the Northern Territory. I'm not 100% sure. If you are indoors or if you are in a good tent, you won't need one, but if you decide to sleep under the stars you are taking the risk of being bitten. However, the most you'll get is annoying itchy red bumps.
