How long did that take you to find Hien?! :)

I'm going by what's on the front forum page, so minus the 9000 or so that have been deleted over the forums' life span. Since a lot of those would have gone into initial testing or be deleted for other reasons (spam, deleted threads etc.) a few hours ago we hit the 200 000th 'approved' and non deleted thread

Quoting Hien

By the way, must be just around the beginning of Peter's bd; was it a bd present for him?

Hmm... Based on the postID, Brendan posted the 200,000th post on 21 December 2006, the day after Nikki's birthday.

Sam, are you also Admin on the Naughty Sheep on Parade.com website and you've just gotten the stats mixed up? Or, is Hien trying to secretly subvert TP for his own evil-doing??? I think the latter...

Pretty quick. A glance at the postID of the latest post, plus a few minutes of searching. :)

Well, the stats page shows that there are some 207,200 posts now. If there are 9,000 posts that have been deleted, then we have not reached 200,000 posts after all.

Interesting, looks like the stats page isn't removing the deleted ones (probably for performance reasons). That's also cached, so hence part of the difference between that and for example the postid on this entry of 208868 or so (although there'd be several hundred at least missing from the post id due to the creation and testing of the forum that were manually removed afterwards). I'm referring to what is the most accurate count, the one on http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm

But still there is a main question...who is the winner? In other words, who posted number 200 000?

Where's Hein when you need him?

Ah... yes. I've totally forgotten about that one. I have the All Threads (with OT posts shown) bookmarked and seldom go to the forum.cfm page.

I don't think we'll ever know...

Actually, I was meaning to hit refresh for about 5 minutes and see who it became, but got distracted and by the time I came back we were 16 over, so too many for me to work back from. Of course I could go in and run a query for it, but where's the joy in that!

Ok, here it is:

I've just looked at the forums.cfm page. The count is 200,149 (at this point of typing). And the latest post in the forums at this time is by Isadora, with the postID 208786

So, the 200,000th post is 149 posts behind postID 208786, which means it's postID 208637 (derived from 208786 minus 149).

So, the 200,000th post is by wouterrr in the 2nd post of "The most fun city in the world"

* This is assuming there were no posts deleted in between postID 208637 and 208786

CONGRATULATIONS, WOUTER!!!

The joy is in the enlightening of the very, very loyal TP subjects who can't run the query and really want to know... Who was it??????????? ;)
