Hello! I've read the other threads on overstayed visas in europe but i had a few questions and was wondering if you could help. i've overstayed in europe in one of the schengen countries (i entered through denmark but am currently in sweden). i am from costa rica and i needed no visa to enter europe as long as my stay was 90 days or less. i've overstayed for about a month and a half. now i am flying back to costa rica but i am worried i will be given trouble for overstaying especially because i am planning on asking for a student visa to germany as soon as i get back. i'm not sure which embassy i should ask for information on this. the swedish embassy? or the costarican embassy in sweden? and, any help on this would be great, thanks!
Damn, you are in trouble. Germany is anal-retentive about not giving visa to people who overstayed.
All you can do is get out ASAP and hope and pray that at the airport the Swedes don't care about the fact that you overstayed and don't bother to record your visa infraction in the SIS.
consider yourself banned from europe
banned from europe? that's a little harsh.. i think i will have to pay a fine though.
is the passport usually checked when leaving europe, or entering europe? i mean, will they check the stamp of when i arrived in europe when i'm leaving from europe? or just the next time i come in?
does this vary depending which country in europe i leave from?
i hope you are lucky at the airport when you leave, a friend of mine had the same problem once but the police got confused with the stamps and he did not bother to re- check the date and let her go, she was so nervous but all was good, i wish you the same luck!
nistrika - it depends what country you go into...irelands security is very laid back and not too bothered about anything, sometimes the uk.
germany and france could be very tough on you. similar to the americans who just dump you in a cell for 10 hours before considering sending your ass back to another country...if you have a particular visa for a particular country then a country ban would be imposed! for how long i do not know. but they do take it very seriously. laws arent there for no reason...
germany may ban you...but in particular that you are from costa rica...maybe if you were from australia / usa then they would be more relaxed
