I'm planning a trip which will include 10days on Koh Samui. Does anyone have any recommendations of things to do/see and places to stay?

depending on what you're looking for you can for example stay on Chaweng Beach (many party and shopping facilities) or - if you like it more relaxed and quiet - you can choose the northern beaches Maenam or Bophut (and from there hire a motorbike or a taxi to go to Chaweng). From everywhere you can book trips across or around the island. You can also take the ferry to the neighbouring islands Koh Phangan and Kho Tao and stay there for a few days, if you wanna go diving Koh Tao is the best place.

Filika - Best regards,

I live on Koh Samui and there are lots of things to do and so many hotels and resorts to choose from. It depends how much money you want to spent for your accomodation. There is a great guesthouse just 5 minutes away from Chaweng on the hillside overlooking Chaweng Lake called Art Palace. It's a secret tip and many local expats came here every weekend to enjoy good house music at the pool lounge. It's worth to come here once.
For myself I think either Chaweng, Lamai or Bophut are the best places to stay.
Chaweng is most touristic, with lot of resorts, a huge shopping street and the biggest nightlife.
Lamai is a little bit quieter than Chaweng but you still you have lots of shopping and nightlife.
Bophut, fisherman's village is very beautiful.Small with some great restaurants and shops.

Hello Starlet

I was on Koh Samui, for 5 days, in November.
I did not like it, at all. They are practically tearing up the whole island, to build concrete hotels etc.

And getting around the island has become difficult, unless u are willing to spend a lot of money on it.

I suggest u dont go there, at all. Go to Koh Pha Ngan, instead.

I was in Chaweng for a few days last year, it's okay but nothing special and not a patch on somewhere like Koh Phi Phi.

Don't go to the crocodile farm - badly run, animals in bad condition and there's a crocodile show which is so unnatural it's untrue. Don't support it by paying money to get in as the money clearly doesn't go to the welfare of the animals in it.
