HI! I need help on how to get to Guangzhou from Wan Chai, Hong Kong Island. I will be travelling from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, Guangzhou to Shenzhen, then Shenzhen back to Hong Kong. If there's anyone who is kind enough to help and give me detailed info on how to get to Guangzhou from Wanchai, Hong Kong, I would really appreciate it. Which mode of transportation is the best and inexpensive of course, from HK to Guangzhou. I already have a visa so that's not a problem. I just need to know how to get there.
Any help would be much appreciated.

hi claud, take the star ferry to the mainland and you can catch a bus from outside the port to the university which is just a short walk to the train station (behind it). you can catch a train to guangzhou which takes a few hrs. can't remember the price but it is pretty cheap. didn't visit shenzen so can't help you out there for definate, but i think you may be able to catch another train from guangzhou to shenzen. have a great trip, pete
from Wanchai take ferry to Tsim sha Tsui, cost around Hk$2.20. Then get off the pier and take taxi to Hunghum station or find a bus. Hughum Station is the only train station from where you can go to Gaungzhou directly from HK.
from HK to Sze, go to Tsim Tsh Tsui train MTR station and then find KCR station, from there catch trains towards Lowu. Get off in the final station Lowu, check out from immigration and just walk for 5 min and you are in Shenzen, China.
i recently caught a bus from Hong Kong Central cost 100 hkdollars. we bought this ticket from China Travel ( from what i understand, this company is in charge of these trips and recommended on a few chinese sites). there are a few departure times throughout the day and the trip takes about 3 1/2 hours to get to guangzhou. the bus stops at a few locations in the city but i recommend the white swan hotel, or the landmark hotel Haizhou square stop. both these are on the river. Guangzhong is massive and these two dropoffs would put you in a 'central' area. The white swan is one of the top hotels located on Shamian island and right near to it is the "Youth Hostel" which is really a hotel in disguise. Shamian island is not an island by traditional idea more a bit of land with a canal separating it from the rest of the heaving metropolis.
China travel is on Connaught street and the bus leaves from their office. no number for you but you can look it up.
also.... you can get off at shenzhen.
