vixen68194 has indicated that this thread is about Australia

I am going to Sydney on Feb 8th, and i have a working visa. Do i need to have proof when i arrive that i have the correct funds in the bank. I do not have an onward ticket. I am in china at the moment and do not have a bank statement with me. Would an internet print out be ok if i do need it???

for a whv this is a requirement...i wont find out myself until a few months time...for what is certain it is not worth the risk not to have this piece of paper.

apparently they rarely ask to see such a document, however if one asks then you are screwed!

im showing an old bank statement to them...6 months old...like it or lump it as my bank accounts are in other countrys...a print out is acceptable i would imagine...so YES! as i will do that as well.

Coming from NZ to the UK my own country required proof of funds to give me the visa in the first place. I never bought a statement from my NZ bank with me and didn't need it as my own country had made me pass the test before they let me out (as it were)

Did you have to supply this information to get your whv? If you did then you can assume that you are covered by having that visa stamp in your passport.

That said its always wise to err on the side of caution. To make things hopefully a bit easier on you while your in China I recommend (if you can) access your account online somewhere and print off a page which shows the basic details however if you do this keep it really safe as you would your passport and other secure documents.

Hope that helps - have a great time!

Cara.

when you arrive you may be asked to show funds but you only need a bank statement or travellers cheques, also if you have a return or open ticket the amount needed is less

It is possible that you will get stopped but for the record, I've enterend Aus 3 times on my visa and never been asked for anything other than my passport. I know at least 8 people that have never been asked for proof of funds. It's a risk but if you've ever seen the queues in Sydney airport it's highly unlikely that you would ever be asked....

I was not asked to show funds upon arrival either, but as TravelMc said you should err on the side of caution.
