I guess you could get lucky and then again you might get an infected needle, not so lucky.
I had all my tattoos done in local places by licenced tattoo artists and I watched all my needles be serilized and I haven't had any problems with mine. However, I know of people who went there later and had complications from their tattoos.. I suppose you can never *really* know and that's the hard part of getting recomendations.

Also, not all serilized needles come straight from a pack. There are pots (that look kinda like home-deepfry-pots) that sterilize needles but it has to be done at the right tempature etc.

Then comes the question, are you doing it in Thailand because it will be cheaper? Because if you *really* want that tattoo and want to live with it for the rest of your life you should be willing to pay the extra bucks to get it just right and 100% safely.. Like plastic surgery, this is not something to bargain on..

Having said that there are some brilliant tattoo artists in Thailand but they are not gonna be the ones you find somewhere in the streets of Bangkok. See if you can get into direct contact with local artists, check out their work etc. They might be a bit more expensive but most often they are worth it.

Lastly, I wouldn't agree with the "wash it all the time", 2 - 4 days healing time... yeah it's different for every skin but I've never seen a tattoo heal perfectly in 2 - 4 days...

When I get a tattoo it usually has bandages for 4 - 8 hours, if i get it late at night i sleep with the bandages. When i take them off i take a shower and have warm water flow over my new tattoo for about 5 minutes and repeat that again the next day. For about 4 - 9 days I apply a fatty cream that still lets the skin breathe and be careful not to drown the tattoo in cream, just apply enough to let it soak in.
For 1 - 2 weeks cover it up for sunbathing and don't think of taking a bath, getting into a hottub or none of that, stick to showers. Also when you do get it wet, won't wipe it dry like the rest of your body, pat it with a towel instead (wiping it could rip of a scab and then you have a nice lil scar in your tattoo).
I didn't do this with my first tattoo but i did with the ones i had later and they all look allot better than my first one. It might not show the first 2 - 3 years but after a while you'll see a differance.

ive got a huge whopper tattoo that takes up my arm, how do i get rid of it? can i conceal it up with another tatoo? but a colour one? my tatoo is a tribal one?

in terms of tattoos, if its visibile and i am hiring someone then i will not take on any males that have long hair, piercings, or visibile tats...IMAGE is everything to a business!

if a woman has a tat then she = scumbag...let me guess, she will have a dolphin on the back at the top of her ass.

tats in general are not very attractive on a woman. so any women out there, if you want to be with me then you are going to have to lose the tat!!! :)

Oslaue whilst i can understand some of your points, i have to say i think the only scumbag here is you! If you think that a female with a tattoo is a lesser being, then you either A: Have lived an excessively sheltered existence, or B: Have such an inflated, mistaken opinion of yourself that you no longer live in the real world... you just float along in Oslaueville (which... In my humble opinion is worse than a long, painful death!). I feel sorry for any disillusioned femme that would be remotely interested in you, especially after such a pathetic, misinformed comment. Mysoginist?

Whilst in Chiang Mai my partner had a tattoo done, it was a very clean place and the tatoo is lovely it took over five hours to be done and it is still fine although he has a friend tattooist redo the red colour as that seemed to be more pink.
Having a tattoo in Thailand is the same as anywhere just be careful that the place is clean and that a new needle is used.
GO FOR IT!!!!!!
