Hello all,

I'm an English citizen who moved to Aus about 5 years ago (I'm a citizen here too) and am planning on returning to the UK in Jan 2010 for a year long working holiday. I would like to open a bank account in the UK with pounds that I have been given for birthdays etc that I haven't transferred over (lol, a whole 32 pounds and 10p).

I will also be transferring a small amount of money into the account each year but will not need to access the account until 2010 when I go over. Does anyone know of where I can set up an account in England from here (Aus). I need one that has no minimum (or around 30pound) deposit.

Thanks for your help.

Well I have kept researching this bank account business and finally found something! I thought I would post back up here to help out anyone who is also looking to invest in the UK.

Bradford and Bingley have an international Youngsave account which is available for people aged 0-25 years old from around the world. There is no minimum initial deposit and if you withdraw less than 3 times per year you get bonus interest.

This could be handy for those who like me are planning on travelling in a few years and want to get a little bit of money in the destination country, earning interest in their currency.

Check it out at
The Youthsave account can be accessed from the link of the left side of the page.

Hello Juznholzuk

I asked a friend your question, and she has the following, to say.

The bank we use has accounts for such people. The name is NatWest, tell her to go to and then contact the staff from that bank and they should be able to help her.
