I am travelling to Montreal (and possibly Quebec City) during the first week in July. Can anyone recommend a nice hostel in montreal or quebec city for a 30 year old woman? i'm looking for a place that is not too loud or crazy that attracts a mix of younger and older folks.
Also, any tips or advice about going to Montreal during the Jazz festival would be appreciated.
I have never stayed at a hostel in Mont/Que City, but have been to Montreal many times and it is understood this is the premiere Jazz fest in North America. official site ofcourse:
Wed June 30th Lineup is ridiculous. Im sure youll have a great time.
I don't know about hostels, but I was in Montreal last week and stayed in the Hotel le Residence on Sherbrooke street, which seemed to be a main drag in Montreal.. Everything was close to there. The place ran me about 40 usd/night and I would recomend it to anyone visiting Montreal.
The only hostel that I know of that is respectible here in Montreal is the Hostelling International one ( http://www.hostellingmontreal.com/ ). It's in a good location downtown and the prices don't look too bad. My friend used to live near there and said the people that would hang out around it would be nice, and the crowd wasn't too loud. I'm not sure of average age, but check out their website. I didn't get a chance to look through the whole thing, but maybe they have something on it.
Good luck and you'll love it here!
