Hey there everyone, I am planning to travel to munich this weekend and im going to make my way down to switzerland...so, i dont know the best parts to visit and i want to visit a few cities for sure. I want to know if theres a train/bus system that travels around from city to city (like a backpacker type deal)...any suggestions for a 3-5+ day tour would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Hi Sanich

I have no clue whether there is something like an organised backpacker tour available, but you could also use the huge public transport system. You can get tickets at every railway station.

Timetables: http://www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm or ask at the railway stations for a printout

It may be reasonable to buy a “Swiss Travel System” ticket; depending on what you want to do and where you want to go. Have a look at Swiss Youth Pass and Swiss Half Fare Card:

I must confess I don’t know what the best places to visit are. There are so many lovely places..

Cities: Luzern = Lucerne, Zürich, Bern (capital)

Make sure you go up a mountain! (e.g. Engelberg/Titlis near Luzern, 3020m above sea level)

Travelling times (by train):
Bern-Zürich: 1-1.5hrs
Zürich-Luzern: ~ 1 hr
Bern-Luzern: 1.5hrs

Where do you plan to stay?

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your stay ;)
And please let us know what you did and what it was like.

i went to lucerne in late november last year and it was really amazing!! A great city to go to with amazing mountains. i went up mt pilatus by catching the bus and cable cars up and there was an amzing view. the tourist centre near the train station was really helpful to and gave us all the information we needed!
