Hi ausies, I need your help!
I am Alejandro from Spain, I've never been in Australia before but everybody say that its the most awesome place and its one of my dreams. I want to spend a year-long there and I have to choose between one of this places...

1. Sydney
2. Brisbane
3. Perth
4. Geelong
5. Tasmania

All of them sound great, and I know that all of them have the ocean line. I need no big cities, I love the sea, prefer a relaxed atmosphere and natural spots over a crazy night life and so on. Which one would you recommend me?
I need to get a job, could you tell me a website about info jobs and visa?...

thank you for your help!

I have spent a good amount of time in Australia and have been to all of those cities. I went to school in Melbourne and that is a great city and worth a look at. Syndey was nice but it is a very fast paced city and not exactly a laid back Aussie city. I would recommend Melbourne on the top of the list and Perth. The only drawback to Perth is that traveling around from there is a little difficult due to its remoteness. You will love australia. Another alternative maybe to go to New Zealand as well.

Hello Alejandro,
I suggest Geelong, it is a relaxed and large provincial city right on the coast. It's only a 45 minute drive from Melbourne or take the regular public transport (train).
So, you can have a more laid back location with a big city not far away. You are also close to the Great Ocean Road and many different beaches. The scenery is fantastic and pleasant.

Tasmania is a state, not a city but is a good destination for adventure and scenery. Tasmania is also easily accessible from Melbourne by overnight ferry (aditional day sailings during summer also) or fly there in one hour.
From what you say, Perth would be OK as my second choice.

Cheers ;)
