in the control panel for travel helpers it says that you can take countries off wbut when u click on it u just have the option to choose another country. helpful.

I believe you just have to go to your Travel Helper section and click "DELETE" next to the country/region name you're a helper for.

I'm not sure how to turn off the e-mail notifications without turning off the notifications for all PMs. But, you can remove yourself from being a travel helper.

In your control panel under Travel Helpers, below the text, is a link with an arrow next to it, that says Travel Helper settings. Click that link. A page will come up where you can edit the content or delete it completely. Those options are below the menus and is labeled "Your Travel Help Countries/Regions so far". I just deleted one of my regions and I am no longer listed as a travel helper on the main page.

I myself actually wondered how it's possible that when a question is being asked about a country, that the system knows who to send this PM to. Does this only happen when the country is literally named in the title or forum post. Or when it recognizes for example the capital? Or does every post get screened etc.?
Because I get far less PM's about several countries then there are forum entries for.

The person who is posing the question has to select travel help for the particular region for which you are a travel helper, say 'Europe' for example, for you to receive that question in your message center. Otherwise, the post will only turn up in the forum. I think this option is good for those, like jaxstar, who do not want to receive emails for travel help but would prefer to read it on the forum.

See, I learn something new every day! I am a travel helper for (regions) North & Central America so I don't receive too many TH questions and definitely no notifications when questions are posted in the forums. (It's that or no one likes me. Could happen.)

Just checked the 'ask the travel helpers' drop down menu which appears when a new thread is started in any of the regional forums, I find it is even more detailed and has countries listed. So, I would have to click 'India', if I wanted my new thread on India to go to all the India travel helpers.

Another feature I recently discovered is that I can also subscribe to a particular thread so that all posts on that thread will come to my PM. I can therefore subscribe to my 'Uttaranchal' post and receive any updates on it, rather than having to search for the thread each time to check if there were updates.

Good work, Sander!

Whenever a member starts a thread in any regional forums (Asia, Europe, North America, ...), there is an option available for the member to select the country/region which the question is about. When this is selected, the posted message will be sent to all registered travel helpers for the selected country/region.
