I am hoping to go on a 6 month trip from morocco across northern africa and down the east coast to south africa. Hopefullt taking in Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and South Africa. Has anyone got advice on the northern countries in particular? Any replies greatly appreciated. New to travellers point!
ow...that's a lot in 6 months. Maybe its better to just go down from Egypt to South-Africa? That is one hell of a trip in the first place. Algeria is kind of dangerous. Kidnapping in the north is realistic. There are also banditgroups active near the capital of Algiers.
In addition to Wouter: for Algeria and Libya, they are not very keen on individual travelers, and you might not get a visa. For Sudan, visas are difficult to obtain and the country itself is not really safe either.
regarding what utrecht wrote
to get visa for suidan not so hard ,you just need a letter of recomandation from your conculate ,(like in egypt if you will go from there or from you home country
about safe or not ,i never been to sudan but many overlanders that i know went there recently with motorbikes or cars and they said its very safe there ,
if any one wants to start north africa from egypt ,im planing to do it by car perhapes like april but i,m flexible on time as i,m not so sure when i will do it ,
safe travel to all of you
