One Cover is a pretty cheap place, but if you plan on going with a digital camera, lap top, mobile phone etc, they'll have to be listed seperately and pay a bit more for that extra coverage, but the wording for that coverage of those items is very picky in the policy conditions. I had my camera stolen and it wasn't replaced or given the money due to the wording in the policy being very picky even in situations I could not help. For most other things the coverage is pretty good, but if you need to make a claim it'll be like most insurance companies that'll do everything in their power to not pay you or pay you less than the value.

Your profile says you are from UK, I am not sure if this policy can be taken out for overseas people coming to Australia or if it is just Australian residents that are able to use it.

Have a great trip around OZ.

Hi, Dont know if this is of any use but im insured with Coverworks, best level of cover that i could find and very reasonable? I did it through Visas Australia who sorted my visa out too...

STA Travel does a good extensive cover...

I only need a 4month cover and they quoted £172 for Premium cover. Else where I checked quoted between £200 and £400 for plans that did not cover for extreme sports including Skiiing snowboarding shark diving aswell as all the normals bits.

For a 10month cover they quote... £270 Standard. They dont do the Premium package for above 6months it seems so you wont get cover for all the extra extreme sports.

Anyways have a look and read there info... STATravel

No forget all that.. I work for a travel insurance company and no that the rates are extremely high for what the cover is.

Best option is going on the internet.. searching for gap year travel insurance, or backpackers travel insurance and i guarentee prices will be lower. is a good site.

Also advisable to check cover for medical expenses cancellation and personal belongings (main cover)

Also if you are taking part in high risk activities check to see if these are covered at a higher premium or by increasing the excess.

All the best,

Your right, Lots of insurance companies aim at price and not cover. i spent weeks searching for the right policy! Checked all the sites and the small print. Make sure you get the right policy for you! Why have insurance if you can make a claim?

It would be like wearing waterproofs when swimming! what’s the point???
