hi to all TP members,
many times when I read the posts here about planing a trip,it jumps at me:My life at home or my job is boring.
So I wonder why?
Why is it boring?
What are you doing to change this?

Well, Marlis, for me planning and going on a travel has nothing to do with how much I find life boring or not. It is a feeling that I have always had and if I were to try and describe the indescribable feeling I get from travelling, it is that I discover something along the way that makes me feel that I am living, rather than simply going with the flow of life.

But, yes, whenever I have felt that I am focusing on one aspect in life and neglecting all others, I have always tried to make changes as I go along, some drastic others not so drastic...

Hello Marlis

Whenever life bores me, I see it as a sign that I am doing too much of one thing, and not enough of another.
I think variety and balance is the secret of keeping life exciting.

been bored is just part of life...maybe one could say life is boring but its what you make of life!

life isnt about what life can offer you but more to what you can offer life!

Marlis - I'll gladly trade you Bonaire boring for Illinois boring!! It will make your "boring" life feel exciting after about 24 hours.

I'm sitting here, looking out at empty cornfields covered in snow and a temperature of about -18C, and wishing I could join you on the dock to fish and watch the sun set. But, until that happens, I consider what will be the next trip we take, what we'll do when we're there and how many pounds of seashells I will will bring back home.

I also go down to the basement and look at the aging furnace in need of replacing to remind me that certain things come before travel. I may have a boring life, but it is the one I have chosen. I also remind myself that we do have dreams for our future that do not include the snow outside. The mundane things take precedence, though by doing them, it means we can eventually fulfil our dreams - just not today... ;)

I agree with Mr. Gecko - boredom is a part of life. It's that dull, tedious feeling that makes not being bored feel so special.

Saying that, I don't like it. Boring means having a welcome night in and there's nothing good on TV, or realizing on the bus that your book isn't very good, or having a week full of get-up-work-go-home-late-sleep-get-up. I don't like routine much either, although I like planning things ahead. The thought of having to do the same thing day-in-day-out is terrifying. My parents are big (BIG!) on routine - maybe that has something to do with it.

I also have a feeling that some people get bored because they depend too much on others to entertain them.

Hi Isadora,
I dont think I would change with you,but you are very welcome to sit with me and fish and...:)
My life is not boring at all,so many things to do.
Boring are for me this dayly duties like cleaning the kitchen, doing the dishes and when everything is clean you take the plates and pots and after a short time everything is dirty again..

I think for most of us some aspect of life are necessarily routine, and that's why they can become boring - even things that you initially love can get boring if you repeat them too much. That's one of the reasons that we love to travel - there can be so much variety in the time you spend travelling, and once you get bored of something you're free to move on - you just don't have the same kind of commitment.

I think it's about appreciating the smaller things in life like how beautiful this morning was, and how nice the person you sat next to on the bus was, these things make life more worth while and less boring.

P.S Next time you're bored go skinny dipping!! It'll bring the excitement back!!

Oh, the stories I could tell, though we'll save those for another day in another forum!! But, you are correct - especially if you don't notice those really big spotlights up on the cliff!
