It just occured to me - Justin Timberlake is playing right next door at the Bell Centre tonight. Talk about boring!

Monday to Friday is usually boring for me - in that l have to get up go to work come home - see friends if they are about (or not being boring themselves) - to to bed - get up - feed the cat - go to work ya da ya da ya da!

But life isnt all about mad adventures every day - lve just come home from a huge adventure which was brilliant and getting back to normality has been hard which makes the boredom of routine all the more obvious!

Still have lots to look forward to - a quiz night with work on Saturday, Paul home from States Sunday, in the further away future - babies due to be born, a friends wedding, my sisters 30th birthday, selling our houses, moving house (hopefully) this year, planning 1 or 2 trips for later in the year! Plenty to keep me busy!

Life is what you make of it - might as well be optimistic about it all! And when lm bored - log on to TP of course!

To go back to the original question you hijackers;)

I am bored because I can't travel. Travelling makes something loose in your brain to which you have broadend your vision. You know how it is out there. Compare that to daily life. A plain simple explanation.;)

Hello Wouterr

I considered that very point, around 7 years ago.
I wondered if the same feeling could be got, even while not travelling.
Now, I go to places, in the city I live, where fewer mainstream type people go. That gives my mind the stimulation and freedom it gets from travelling.

Hi Mel ('s boyfriend),

You should see this into perspective. Its not that I am really bored. I love my life, the way it is (also when I don't travel). And you are right about your example. Varying in life is very important, its better not to get the routine to sneak into your brain.

And get a foreign girlfriend, too Wouterr.
Having a foreign boyfriend and living in a foreign country adds exoticness, to my life, in general.
But yeah, I know what u mean. Travelling is very very exciting.

Everyone gets bored sometimes, for example when there's not enough to do at work and you're clock watching, or your stuck inside with bad weather with nothing to read or watch etc. The odd boring day like this is normal.

But what means life is boring?

Its a problem when your whole life becomes boring and your life is going nowhere. Its quite easy to get stuck in a rut. For example, doing an unstimulating, unchallenging job you're overqualified for, and not getting the opportunity to use your brain. Yuck- been there.... Also when your social life dwindles to almost nothing, and you're spending every friday night watching tv. That's when you need a wake-up call, to show that its time for you to make a change, be it changing your job, life, relationships, etc....or a lot of people realise its time to inject a bit of adventure, and so want to go travelling.

The constant feeling of being bored, not finding things interesting as they used to be, not having the get up and go to relieve that boredom, is sometimes a symptom of depression.

Just sharing a reflection: Life can sometimes be exciting and challenging and you can enjoy each day, but still feel that you are going nowhere and are stuck in a rut. Just imagine one wakes up each day, goes to work, earns income, spends it, does various things to keep themselves fulfilled like travelling, writing, skydiving etc, goes through various relationships. Day in and day out... Why? What for? Sometimes, I think life itself is a rut and wonder why life is.

Then, I forget the momentary doubt and return to the normal routine of trying to live a fullfilling life.
