I am looking for advice on where I can get Carnaval tickets during the Carnaval festivities next month. I have struggled with the internet and the topics are not exactly alive and bubbling within this www. either. If you have had a similar experience to me previously, your insight and knowledge would be very much appreciated.
I'm not gona be much help but am in same situtation as you, me and a friend are in rio for carnival...what i have discovered though is that travel around rio by bus is apparently not good.
Some one else told me that to try and do tourist attractions etc... is also quite hard during this time and if u want to leave rio by bus, for example say if u wanted to go to buzios it is quite hard as many locals leave the centre...
Some one else told me that they were disappointed with carnival...and that theres no need to get tickets as the free parties are the real thing....coz we weren't sure whether to buy tickets to the parade as its fairly expensive.
But then others have told me how awesome carnival is, but again not to worry about paying for tickets until we get there and then decide!
So im not really too sure either, all the websites tell u its amazing, but they are trying to seel u something...so if u find any info wud be great to know and if i find anymore i will be sure to share it...am very excited though, rio is our beginning destination, i reckon what eva happens its gona be awesome!!!!!
Hey Jason and Soph.
Well first of all Carnival is great... but you got to know where the parties are. There are lots of tourists who show up here and they have no idea what to do. I have been living here for over a year... and I assure you... it is the best party on earth. Sambodrome, the parade is incredible. You can buy tickets from shady scalpers at the door, as we all do who live here... they are about 50 reals, 25US for the cheap seats. You need to hook up with someone at your hostel or somewhere who speaks Portuguese. But really it is not hard. As for the street parties, they are awesome, but that is not all of Carnival, there are Carnival balls and the Sambodromo and huge Bali Funk parties. There is tons to do. Where you aRE STAYING WILL BE ABLE TO HELP YOU TRANSLATE THE NEWSPAPER to tell you where things are. Take it easy though, most tourists bust and burn out on day 2. So drink lots of water get your 4 hours of sleep and try to hang with the Brazilians... even more extreme... the Cariocas. Take Care and have fun! My number here is -snip-

all carnival tickets have been picked up by scalpers by now (14th feb) so you'll have to get it from them, or from travel agencies, or from hotels or from sites.
check my site
that teaches the low down on where and when to party.
