Hi All,

Will be travelling alone to Austria, Czech Repulic, Poland, Hungary & Slovakia. Doing most of the main cities like Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Krakow, Wroclaw and Bratislava. Any suggestions of towns or cities that should not be missed. Any do's and dont's. Any recommended hostels for the cities above? Would appreciate the help and ideas!!!

Cheers,

Shilaa ;)

Hello Shilaa

How about adding Ljubljana, to your list.
It is beautiful, but the main thing to do there is get involved in the night life.

And what about the following place, in the Czech Republic. I have not been there yet, but I am planning to go, because it looks so interesting, on this link.

If u are interested in history, dont miss the communist museum, in Prague.

On cold and/or wet days, visit the Turkish baths, in Budapest.

U could take the train, from Ljubljana, to Salzburg, before u go to Vienna. Salzburg is georgous, and the train ride views, from Ljub.. to Salz.. are fantastic.

Gdansk in Poland is also another beautiful city....while you're in Krakow, don't miss the salt mine tour...

Maybe take a trip to Auschwitz as well, it's a sad history, but you will be impressed!

I 2nd Auschwitz...If you're going to Krakow...as sad as it may be...its one that you shouldn't miss - there are buses that pick you up in Krakow and take you to auschwitz (about an hour ride) and the tour is guided...its a day tour...and worth your while!

if you are in the area don't miss romania it is amazing. i found the capital city a bit shite but transilvania is briliant. do not miss brasov or sibe which i think is the birthplace of daracula. bulgaria is also an amazing country. and turkey, if you can posibly make go to istanbul .

Cesky Krumlov (a long day trip from Prague) is a very nice little village to visit.

Hi All,

Thank you for all the inputs. I must say i will definately go to the Salt Mines near Krakow, it looks interesting. Unfortunately, im one of those faint hearted people, i wouldnt be going to Auschwitz also because i have seen a documentary of it. That good enuff for me.

Thanks aharrold45, Cesky Krumlov is on my itinerary. Ljubljana looks nice too but i might not have enuff of time to get there.

Any idea how interesting is Wroclaw?? I am thinking of visiting the city but have gtten mixed reviews on it. Anyone...
