Trains in France - Europe are amazing. Just yesterday I had a look at how best I could go from London, visiting my best friend in Brussels, to celebrating Carneval in Cologne and then to Munich where my sister lives. Have a more detailed read about trains in France the French TGV high speed railway system that crosses over the whole of France starting from Barcelona, Marseille, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. The high speed train equivalent in Germany is the ICE and that is just as fast and effecient then the TGV. One tip, have a look at the Deutsche Bahn website, there are Winter specials from 29 Euro to any city in Germany.
I'm heading to Luxembourg for 18 days in late June/early July, and I'm trying to figure out the best option for training it around a few countries.
Our tentative plans will go something like:
- land in Paris, then off to
- bits of Germany (probably around Mosel)
- and maybe Zurich
We'll be centred in Luxembourg and travelling by train no more than about 2 hours or so to each place. What's my best bet for train fares? I looked on the Rail Europe site, and they offer a ticket for 4 borderng countries to be used any 5 days within a 2-month time frame - for a whopping $450 US.
Is it better to buy individual tickets if I'm travelling such short distances? Or is there another pass available?
