Hello, I'm planning a 3-4 days trip to Darwin. Would you suggest to arrange day trips to kakadu and to litchfield (sleeping in Darwin) or it is better to spend a night in the parks?
Thanks
Ferr

I think renting a car would be a good option so you don't have to backtrack to Darwin every trip.
But if you want a day trip, Litchfield is doable, Kakadu not really because of the distance and the fact that Kakadu is much bigger then Litchfield.

Litchfield is a full day trip. I went there in 2003 and had great time. It was during the wet season but that is what made the trip. We went swimmming in rock pools and under waterfalls where no crocs could get to. I highly recommend litchfield. Darwin was an interesting city. It got packed the weekend we were there because a US naval ship docked there the day we arrived, so Darwin was ridiculous.

I'd also say rent a car and do the round trip staying out maybe 2 nights. It will give you a chance to explore too. There are some nice spots in Kakadu apart of the obvious ones. Go to 'UDP' falls - I think it's name has been changed to 'Waterfall Creek' ???. A scene of 'Crocodile Dundee' was filmed there. And... Litchfield is well worth the visit, in some ways its' better than Kakadu as it's more low key and just a fun place.
