"There is an excellent resource on line, a travel group/forums called 'South America for Visitors' tri-lingual posts and the moderator was a resident of South America herself for several years, fluent in Spanish and savvy and the culture and customs.......................................Anyhow visit gosouthamerica at about dot com and browse you may join free."

From recent post of mine....not my url, but one all or most prospective visitors to SA should at least visit.

I see others posting informative url s on the forums from time to time.

What exactly is your policy? some of us do not have time to post up or search on teh links section. Other projects/groups/forums I belong to encourage putting up this info, to assist travellers as long as it is not a blantant commercial website selling tours or hotels, etc.

I also respectfully request to be removed from Spam Block on my message application as I am receiving many inquiries and unable to answer, specifically regading volunteering in Central/South America.

From the forum rules:
3. NO website postings for promotional purposes are permitted. If the postings are genuine responses to questions, we will permit them. Any website postings that look like they are only there to promote a website rather than help other members will be removed.

------

A lot here is up to the moderator/admin for that particular forum and quite often in borderline cases it is based on previous answers by that poster. If a certain poster tends to highlight one site over and over again, it's likely that they have an affiliation of some sort with the site and this is then becoming a promotional post rather than a 'best information found here' post. It's also generally frowned upon to have as an answer "the answer to your question can be found on this page at this site".... Anyone can use a google search to search other sites and find a relevant page but that's not really what the poster is looking for. Naturally, someone joining the site and then all of a sudden posting in 10 different threads with the same URL is bound to find all the posts deleted. Starting off a thread with a URL is also bound to find it deleted as it is not a response to a question etc. etc. As you can see, this is the longwinded version of the nice short rule # 3 :)

FYI, gosouthamerica at about dot com is not a URL, but an email address and would pretty much always be removed. Just insert the url using the URL tab at the top of the post and a moderator can review it quicker too.
