Can I go to Agua Azul without heading to Paleque first
I am in Tuxtla Gutierrez, and want to go to Agua Azul. I know the standard way is to Palenque first, and then backtrack to Agua Azul, but I'm wondering If I can go to Agua Azul first, drop my bag off somewhere, spend the day in the waters, and catch a bus to Palenque later.
I wouldn't spend the night in Agua Azul, just the day. Has anyone done this?
If not, I would have to go Tuxtla>Palenque>Agua Azul>Palenque.
I just don't want to backtrack, but if it's a hassle not to, I will.
Sure, you can go to Agua Azul first, and then to Palenque. I've done that before. As a matter of fact, most of the tours that leave from that i know of, go to Agua Azul, first, then Misol-Ha, and finaly to Palenque. If you go by bus, it should take about 4 hours to get to Agua Azul from Tuxtla. So, you can spend the day in Agua Azul, and then head to Palenque for the night. If you're planning to stay at the Panchan, don't arrive too late because if fills up quite fast. Good luck and have fun!
Can you share w/me where it is that you are? It sounds interesting! I think I'd like to experience that area some day.
She's in Chiapas, in the South, next to Guatemala. You should definitely go there someday; there's something for everybody: waterfalls, lakes, mountain towns, quiet beaches, Mayan ruins in the middle of the jungle...
