hello there.

i read on some forums that, they are preparing 5000 bucks in their own country currency before they enter into Aussie. Is that true for all countries, and will they really check how much you got? because i aint got 5000 bucks in my account!

im a singaporean and i have a return ticket.

If you're going on a working holiday visa one of the requirements is to have $5000AUS in your bank, although everyone says on here they never check..... though one day they might...

I have travelled very extensive throughout the world including Australia (but I am a citizen and resident here in OZ), a lot of countries on visa requirements request you to have quite a sum of money, but in 48 countries I am yet to be asked for proof of money.

In America which has similar sorts of screwed up rules to Australia, the people who check your passport and ask you questions ask how much money you have, but they have never asked for proof (and I am in the age category which might get some suspicions but not quite as young as 17 like your profile says you are). When they ask in America I just say about $5000 even though I have no where near that much.

So if you say "I have got ... much cash on me now and about another $5000 in my bank account" (try and make sure you have got some Australian cash on you when you enter being so young), well that should do especially seeing you have got a return ticket to proove that you don't need that extra money to buy an onward ticket.

Have a great time in OZ.
