hiya chief, I would aim for places like England, especially because you are Canadian. It is fairly easy to find work here, and being from Canada it is easier still than say those lovely people south of Niagra! I would though try and avoid London, which is too expensive to live as a working person, yet alone a student! Aim instead for larger provicial cities such as Birmingham (not "Berm-in-HAM!!!" ) Manchester, Nottingham etc. Contact your British Embassy as you will probably need a permit to work here. Best of all, remember this one advantage: The £ has the best rates against any other currency in the world, so even doing what Sheilas (=Ozzies) do and work as barpeople in "Landan" or as suggested in these other cities, would give you more money when you go travelling around Europe in May.

Hello Rbrettg

Can u get a work permit?
Or maybe Canadian students are entitled to get temporary work permits. When I was a student, I got a temporary work permit, to work in Canada.
If so, u can also get a TEFL qualification, and teach English as a foreign language. As far as I know, they dont take long to get. I think u may be able to get this qualification, in Canada. Maybe somebody else knows the details.
If u dont, then come to Europe, for the amount of time, u have enough money for. Then hope to get some illegal work, on farms, or in bars and reastaurants. But, maybe it is not a good idea, to rely on this happening.

Try www.britishcouncil.org or contact your local British Council, they are superb! I would definately try them and/or the British Embassy first of all. I think a TEFL course lasts about a month, but everyone does that, so the market, if not saturated, is not exactly buoyant enough to give you enough £. Do this, come to Blighty, work as a barman, you will earn £5.50 min-wage plus tips, stay at a student hostel, save some of it and then travel around Europe! Easy!!!!
