Time to dig up this old thread; don't know why, but the topic cannot seem to leave me alone :)

I just flagged a post that I suspect is a hoax (an accusation of some agency in Sri Lanka, posted in... the Europe forum, by a first-timer with lousy knowledge of English who claims to be of Dutch residency). Flagged it as 'inflammatory', which it ís, but I'd rather had an option like 'hoax' or something, just to save me time PM-ing the mod explaining why I flagged it, and so save him (her?) time reading my PM.

Anyone in favour of this idea?

I have noted the spam and l totally get what you are saying but l have asked Sam to make a call on this one as it not just as clear cut.

What l would note is that when you post a reply under a spammed thread it means further clean up there if the thread is deleted but in this case you were totally right - and l have responded too!

BUT we will leave it to the overlords to make a final call on it!

Thanks for all your help!

Heather

I'm ever so sorry; I meant to put that post in a PM, but absent-mindedly made this mistake.

Question's still up, though; would there be any added value in a separate flag-category for these posts?

Another option that I envisage to make things better, would be a 'contact moderator'-button on the 'thank you'-screen that pops up after each spam flagging, so that explaining one's flag (need be) is made easier.

The fastest and easiest way you could do is to bookmark the links to PM the moderators.

Apart from that not being a very terminal-independent solution, it's actually a very good idea. Tnx, Hien :)
