The largest denomination (that means the majority of the people (the 224.4 million Christians) are CATHOLIC. They are hardly known for their fundamentalism.

Seriously? And here I thought Catholics in the US were few and far between, concentrated in New York City and Boston or something. They always seem to be represented as the Papists and the grossly misled - guess that's a media thing, too. You learn something new every day!

Yes. Catholics and Roman Catholics make up the majority of Christians in the U.S.

Where I live, there is a Catholic chruch every few blocks. Catholicism is very much, well, pushed. They convert and try to convert. Protestants are another larger sect in Christianity, but they are in no way fundies.

The fundies get the news because they are out there and say the craziest things. The news here is all about sensationalism. It really bothers me that they only focus on what they think will catch the most viewers and up their ratings.

Same things with these movies. Jesus camp and the Pelosi movie, they are focused on fundies and their recruitment of young kids to keep their beliefs alive. These two movies have come out very close to one another, but are hardly spotlighting a new and upcoming movement in the U.S.

We are growing evermore secular, and the fundies see it as an attack on their morals and values. So they push more and say more and do more sensational things to give them the spotlight in hopes to recapture the population. It isn't working.

You just don't like what I'm saying, so you're going for the "show me your argument" angle.

Its just the easiest way isn't. Just say something out of nowhere. Opinion or no opinion, there is nothing to tackle. There is always another excuse for you, James. Remember that you took the media thing as an excuse to not answer my request. I say it again. You are nowhere without arguments. If you say that Islam has an issue at the moment without backing that up. What should I think then? You have apparantly an issue with islamists. I never had a discussion without arguments. You? Is that an Aussie thing? I can say that madonna is performing in your backyard without one argument. Do you believe me? I actually now don't reply anymore on your posts since its really no use. Cheers

Can I have a refill please!!!

Of course Islam has an issue at the moment Wouter. I don't have to list the relevant events that make headlines from country to country for you, do I? Islam badly needs a bit of good PR mate. You can't see that? There is no problem?

I don't have to back up the obvious with facts or arguments for those with their heads in the sand.

One more thing. What exactly do you mean by an "aussie thing" Wouter? I'm confused.

How did Hitler became on power? Wasn't that because of a bunch of appealing promises? Those leaders brainwash!

He only managed to brainwash the most narrow minded and conservative people. He got his henchmen to beat up the others.
I think he may only have been voted in, in Bavaria. I will ask my boyfriend. He knows all kinds of stuff, about history.

So actually you call it different. You believe in energy. I call that god and you call that energy. Do you believe in life after death?

Of course, I believe there is energy. Without it, nothing would be happening, at all.

I think the after life, is the foot prints we leave, on this earth.
Everything we do, effects the future. It may effect 1 or millions of people. Even cutting down a tree or picking a flower will change things. An important part of our after life is the children we leave here.

So you don't know, but based on your words you incline towards atheistic thinking. Do you think there is something after you died? Or do you believe in reincarnation or just darkness and never wake up again.

I cant remember there being anything, before I was born. I really dont see why I would be aware of anything, after I die. Except that I have been here and left my mark on the earth.

Regarding the scientists. I was trying to make a point that there are also smart/educated people that believe in God (not saying they mix the two in terms of their scientific work). It's more a reaction to the (in my opinion wrong) statement that all educated, smart people do not believe in God or follow any religion. That's a gross generalization and I think insulting to anyone who has any kind of belief in anything (maybe even atheism ).

If I wanted to be as easily insulted, as those folk u say may be insulted, I could say that I am insulted, that the religious people expect others to accept their fairy tales as fact.

I suspect, that when they say they are insulted or offended, this is a lightweight excuse not to provide any logical argument.

I'm not going to explain nor defend my position. For a start, I can't be bothered, and secondly, I'm late for work

More like u cant explain your position.
