When they get Sharia laws, it will be like a home away from home, but with a higher minimum wage.

Allah bless America.

Mutazalism for the Christian West.

Where would Ibn Rushd (Averroes) or Ibn Sina (Avicenna) find their philosophical/intellectual school?

Baghdad or Boston?
Algiers or Atlanta?
Cairo or Chicago?
Denver or Deoband?

Nowhere in the modern world, I hope.
Appart from recognising their contribution towards modern philosophy, that is.

Well, it is as old hat, as the bible and the Quran.
Thinking in society has developed since Ibn Rushd (Averroes) and Ibn Sina (Avicenna) walked the earth. Applying their schools of philosophy completely anywhere in the modern world, would be akin to making old religious laws the laws of the land. Like religious teachers from bygone days, Ibn Rushd (Averroes) and Ibn Sina (Avicenna) and all other old time philosophers contributed towards modern thinking. They tossed in their 2 cents worth.

Some would say that Islam is more primitive and incites more violence, than the other religions.
I think, how dangerous a religion is to society, depends on how much of a hold it is allowed to gain, in society. Think for yourself. Assign religion to the history archives, where it belongs.

The Bible (Old Testiment) has over a dozen references to stoning as punishment.

  • For touching Mount Sinai - Exodus 19:13
  • For taking "accursed things" - Joshua 7:1-26
  • For cursing or blaspheming - Leviticus 24:16
  • For adultery (including rape victims who fail to scream loud enough) - Deuteronomy 22:23-24
  • For animals (like an ox that gores a human) - Exodus 21:28
  • For a woman who is not a virgin on her wedding night Deuteronomy - 22:13-21
  • For worshipping other gods - Deuteronomy 17:2-5
  • For preaching the wrong religion - Deuteronomy 13:5-10
  • For disobeying parents Deuteronomy - 21:18-21
  • For witches and wizards - Leviticus 20:27
  • For giving your children to Molech - Leviticus 20:2
  • For breaking the Sabbath - Numbers 15:32-56
  • For cursing the king 1 Kings - 21:10

Hard to see what relevance your post has to do with the subject 'Americans and religion'.
Please detail every one of the 50 US states where -

1) any of these primitive 2,500 year old Judeaic crimes are on the statute books
2) the relevant punishments ascribed to the said crime and whether you can plea-bargain with the DA

As an adjunct to you mentioning Islam in your post, perhaps you could list the countries where any of the above crimes are enforced or attempted to being enforced by moslem mullahs (the UK, Denmark and the Netherlands are the obvious ).
Deuteronomy - 21:18-21 - honour killings (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Denmark and UK that I know of).
Leviticus 24:16 - (e.g Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi, Iraq, Pakistan, Bangladesh)
Deuteronomy 17:2-5 - (Afghanistan, Saudi, Pakistan)
Deuteronomy - 22:13-21 (too long a list)

Yes, u are right.
I did not include the 'Americans and' part of the title.
Just the 'religion' part of it.

Will I get a prize, if I make the lists u ask for?
If not, I will just make the following addition to my last post, to include 'Americans and'

I think, if christianity had succeeded in keeping the hold on Western society, that Islam has on certain countries, we(Western societies) would still be rooted in the witch burning days of Medieval Europe. I include Americans in Western society.

The list of US states with ultra-violent primitive Judeaic crimes on their stature books will suffice for credibility reasons

Therein lies the contradiction. Averroes born at Cordova, 1126; died in Morocco, 1198)
, one of the greatest moslem/humanist thinkers of his day, would have more in common with Voltaire, Adams and Jefferson (and even Richard Dawkins!!!) than he would have with the KKK (Khomeini, Khamenei, Khatami) or Sheik Yusuf al Quaradi. The European Enlightment a few hundred years ago emphasised Reason over religious dogma. Averroes emphasised the same philosophy more than 800 years ago but orthodox moslem scholars (e.g. Al-Ghazali) crushed it. The West and Islam passed each other round about 1400. Europe smashed the intellectual tyranny of the medieval Roman Catholic church and the divine rule of Kings while the Islamic world declined due to the tyranny of the mullah which exists to an unprecedented extent today.

I include Americans in Western society.
Thats very magnanimous of you considering the fact that we wouldn't be conversing over the ether without the help of The Great Satan
