I am looking to invest in an international sim card for travels in central america. I have looked at the sites that travellerspoint has provided, and I am likely to invest, but wondered if anyone had anything else to offer in the way of advice, especially my fellow countrymen who might have had difficulty using US phones overseas with the new card.
I think the main thing is that you have a GSM phone, preferably with at least tri band but perhaps even quad band for all of Central/South America (know some friends that had a problem with their phone in Costa Rica and pretty sure that was a tri-band).
Thanks. Anyone have any experience with either of the two companies linked to travellerspoint?
I don't, but I don't see why you would go through the process of finding out, either. If CA is any bit like SA, there are locutorios on every street corner, where calling home is incredibly cheap.
