Hi all,

Just wondering whether anyone can tell me whether this hotel is actually IN the airport? I've got a 6 hr layover and want to book but I'm not sure whether it's actually in or outside the hotel.

Thanks, Tam.

Hi Tam
No, if you check http://www.asiahotel.co.th/asia_airport.htm
you will see it's 3km north of the airports.
I know there are 'dayrooms' at Bangkok airport which you can hire for a few hours at a time. Again, check
http://www.airportthai.co.th/airportnew/bia/html/service9.html
I wished I'd used them when I was passing, but only found them too late.
A 5 hr wait in the transit lounge on hard plastic seats is no fun.:)

There's a hotel named "Amari Airport" Located near international terminal just crossing the street. Infact. there is a air-condition walk way from the terminal to the hotel :D

Feel that 6 hrs is too short to go out side of BKK airport because you may get stuck in the traffic.
It would be better that you can spend 6hrs in the "day rooms" which is right inside the airport (you don't need to go out of immigration atall).
There is another hotel "Amari Hotel" which is a nice hotel(you can get 40% discount if you show your boarding card)which is linked to the airport though you have to come out of customs and immigration. There is a gang way to the hotel direct( there is a counter just near the exit gate and so you don't need to go out of the terminal).

If you still want to go out of the airport, then you can choose Hotel Rama Gardens which is about 15mnts drive from the airport and seems they have a drop and pick up service to/from the airport. This hotel has a reasonably good garden where youc an relax.

Have a nice stay.

Six hours lay over in BangKok is fine. Travel from Sai Gon HCM city, VN to Tokyo, Narita, I some side stepped to Bangkok. I often got to BangKok around 4 or 5pm, and instead of waiting at the airport until 11pm to catch a flight to Tokyo, I check my luggage at the baggage storage (around 5 dollars), and head out for a taxi drive to downtown Bangkok. I often go to Sukhumvit street, because that where most of the actions are. Plenty of vendors, shops, hotels, restaurants. If you don't speak Thai, besure to have the people at the travel counter write down in Thai language the name of the place you want to go, and on the other side write down the word Airport, so you can come back. I often spent time shoping, using internet cafe, and before going back to the airport I would stop by one of the restaurants (most of the time I ate at a restaurant inside a hotel around Sukhumvit area). If you want to save money, then stay at the airport. But, if you are still in a vacation, traveling mood, then go out. Some expenses include: $10-15 taxi to and back, $10 for a very good seafood buffet dinner - sushi and all, $1 for an hour of internet usage, $10 for departure tax when you get in the airport again, and whatever amount of money you want to buy souvenir. If you decided to take a shower at the airport in Bangkok, they charge too much for it. I think one time I paid 10 dollars just to take a shower. However, if you happen to get lay over in Narita, Tokyo, you can rent a dayhotel room with shower for $5 per hour. It is the cleanest hotel room you've ever seen.
