You'll want to look at Fido or Rogers Wireless, both of which are owned by Rogers Communications. There are some other companies that run GSM, but these two are the largest and would provide the most coverage.

I can add to this discussion: My friend brought me an unlocked GSM phone from Hong Kong so I had to find a Sim Card for it.

Rogers' is C$25.
Fido's is C$30 and you can order online:

Or, if you go to almost any shopping mall you should be able to find a Rogers or Fido kiosk/store that sells SIM cards.

As far as I know all GSM phones use SIM cards but CDMA phones do not. (That's where the confusion may have come in) Telus and Bell are CDMA providors in Canada so you'll want to ignore them completely.

thank you very much for you help! i appreciate is a lot, yeah the sim card think is not so widely spread in canada yet as in europe for example were every phone has a sim card regardless of if the phone is locked or not. and i appreciate it very much that you wrote a reply.
i will check that out then when i get to canada...
