Travel Forums Asia Multi entry visa?

Sorry to ask about visas again but I cant get my head round which one is best.We are flying out to Bangkok on 14 June.We are then spending 3 months travelling south to Singapore. Some things I have seen and read have said just get a tourist visa and then apply for an extension out there.Others have said get a "Multi entry"visa which allows you to stay 3 months.
Does anyone know much about these Multi entry visas.ie how much they cost and whether or not this is the one I should get.
Any help on this would be very much appreciated as it is slowly driving me mad.
Cheers

Hey Ricardo,

I know exactly what you mean, the visa situation is really frustrating, especially since they changed the law in October last year. I got really caught out with the law change and had to come home a month early!
The best way to ensure you are covered on all basis is to check this website: http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/ and maybe even give them a ring and see what they suggest. Have a great trip.

How long will you be in Thailand at one time? You write 3 months travelling, is all of that time in Thailand? First, travelers from the UK get 30 days for free at the airport. If you visit a different country before that time is up you get another 30 days when you come back to Thailand. The new rules, if I have it right, is that you can not have more than 90 days (3 free 30 day visas) in Thailand during a 6 month period.

You could spend 29 days in Thailand, head on down to Singapore or pop in to Malalysia for a while and head back to Thailand and get another 30 days. So it sort of depends on how long you MUST stay in Thailand at one time.

(Hope I got it right. Thailand is trying to cut down on some of the Farangs who stay in Thailand for years by using the free 30 day permission stamps.)

We were planning on staying in Thailand for around 2 - 2 half months. We are going to be going to Phuket and a few other of the islands but again from what I have read presume these come under the same visa.
I like the idea of leaving for a few days and returning and getting another 30 days. That is something I will look at.I am also going to check out that website and like Dave says give them a call.
If we decided we wanted to stay in Thailand though for the full 3 months would this multi visa be the way to go?
Cheers for the great asdvice so far:)
