Can someone provide insight into the cheapest RTW air tickets from India?Am planning the trip for Sept 2007.
The destinations are tentatively like this but suggestions are most appreciated:Singapore-Shanghai-Tokyo-Sydney-Los Angeles-New York-London-Paris-Dubai[b]
About the closest Itinerary I can figure out that is a valid one is Mumbai (or Chennai or Delhi)-Singapore-Shanghai-Tokyo-Sydney-Los Angeles-New York-London (you'd have to make you own way to Paris and back to London), then from London-Dubai-Chennai. No flights on the star alliance network go to either of Mumbai or Delhi from Dubai so Chennai is the only airport I could find a flight to India from Dubai. That itinerary works out at 30927 miles that would be on the RTW ticket so you'd be looking at buying a 34,000 mile RTW Star Alliance ticket for that itinerary. You'd still also need to purchase a seperate flight on a budget European airline like Ryanair which does a London-Paris return flight for a bargain price (when booked well in advance and better still when they have a big sale on) as flying London-Paris on a star alliance RTW ticket isn't an option.
The Oneworld ticket wouldn't allow you that many stops in Asia seeing that's your continent of departure, so that RTW ticket can be ruled out. So I am pretty sure you'd have to get a Star Alliance ticket, but I have no idea how much it would cost in India for a 34,000 mile ticket which is what you'd need with that itinerary.
Have a great trip.
Thanks for the thoughtful suggestion,Aharrold!
