Just wanting to get some advise from anyone who has been to Afghanistan in the past couple of years.
I've been searching the internet for companies that run tours and their seem to be quite a few, the problem is that it's hard to know if they're any good from a website and a phone call.
It would be great if anyone who has done a tour recently could recommend one of the companies for me. It's always better to get advice from someone who's 'been there, done that'.
What on earth would you want to travel to a terrorist hotspot, war ravaged country where you have a good chance of either never returning home alive or never returning at all? Why not go to some other place near there like Iran which is less likely to get you killed or taken hostage by terrorists? I under the satisfaction and sometimes reward that goes with travelling to some dangerous places, but Afghanistan!
I hear NATO offer quality 6 month tours.
I think, if u post this, in the Middle East forum, u will be more likely to find folks, who have been to Afghanistan.
There is a dutch organisation, led by Arjan Erkel (kidnapped in Dagestan some years ago) who goes to Northern Afghanistan as well as Tadzjikistan.
it's tadzjikistantravel.nl or something, maybe there is an english version as well.
this company go to afghanistan and i've heard good things about them
If you do go to Afghanistan, could you please post your full name, home address, age and a photo in TP before you cross the border into Bandit country.
I'd like to nominate you for a Darwin award if you end up headless at the side of some dirt road in Helmand or NW Pakistan.
Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and his Merry Men are loose somewhere in the area. GBH is the only known serving Prime Minister of any country who has shelled his own capital (Kabul), destroying about 70% of the city and killing more than an estimated 50,000 civilians. Not the kind of guy you would take home to mother.
The Taliban (the Khymer Rouge was to Communism as the Taliban are to Islam) murder their fellow citizens with great enthusiasm.
American, British, Dutch, Canadian and Australian special forces get around the country swathed in body armour, understandably so.
If you get kidnapped, you are on your OWN!!!
I don't want to see you on TV dressed in an orange jumpsuit begging the coalition forces to leave Afghanistan to save your sorry hide.
P.S. No lap-dancing, you little burqa.
it must be an israeli on a suicide mission of some sort...
Watch the film 'Osama' then see if you fancy going
Rather you than me
Are u still planning to go, Ikey?
I did meet an Irish guy, when I was at Bangkok airport, who had been to Afganistan, but I did not ask him how long ago that was.
