I am going to do an internship in South Africa for the next 4 months. Since the Visa to south africa is very bureaucratic, I would like to take my visitors permit (90 days) and try to extend it for one more month. Does anyone knows how can I do that???? What documents they need to extend this permit???

Maybe it's an idea to cross borders with some of South african's neighbouring countries, like Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana or Mozambique? You will get an extra 90 days I think?

i once considered working in south africa myself to be with the girlfriend. its a real pain in the ass...

have the company that you are working for sponsor you! then you will have no problems. but may be difficult as government will want to know why you are filling the vancancy compared to a black south african who would take priority.

I just got back from South Africa and I can second Flo Jo's comment that you don't get a new visa by making a run for the border. I went to Namibia for a few days during my trip and was not issued a new visa upon returning to the airport in Cape Town!

I wish I never left...

just check with the embassy in ur homecountry.

When I was there, I was lookin into it, would have had to go to that authority (was it Dep.of Foreign affairs? can't remember) before the 60days where over (although u have 90 in total) to get an extension.
