always wanted to do some travelling but not had the chance since I've been bringing up kids alone. Now kids grown up, would love to get out there and explore the world....I've never even flown before, so the thought is too scarey to go alone. Looking for travel companions, male or female, willing to rough it. Destination anywhere - possibly even round world trip next year. I am woman 51 and would prefer to meet similar people - perhaps in same position as myself with kids now grown up. Love to hear from anyone with any suggestions for someone so "green" ha ha......Sara

My kids are grown, too, but I'm still full of energy. I live in Phoenix Arizona, and was wondering how everyone manages to come up with so much money to travel with???

I have my own place and was thinking maybe somebody from another country could stay at my place (for a week or two) and then I could visit them in their county. That way, there would be no outlay for hotels, etc.

Any other ideas how to travel CHEAP?

Welcome Piggyc. Such a pratice is already exisiting among travellers.
It is one of not only reducing the costs but also to know each other well.
yes Hotels eat up a major chunck of your expenditure.
Not necessary that you should visit and stay in host country only when they are out but you can also stay when they are there.

If you are visiting southInida, you are most welcome and you need n't worry about hotels.

A few chinese stayed in my home and we are now good friends and could know a lot from each other.
where are you planning to visit?

Hi Citybell,
nice to hear from you. India sounds brilliant place to be - but perhaps not in rainy season !! Where abouts are you and any idea how much flights would be from UK. Is it easy to backpack round and is it safe? Sara

Hi Sara,

Nice to hear from you. It is perfectly safe to backpack. There are so many people like you who backpack in India.
Inmost of the states it's rainy season but in some states it's not a rainy seson. SO don't worry about rainy season.
Pls check your personal msgs where i gave you all details regarding flights etc.
