Well, what a great thread!! Sorry to join in so late. Been a bit busy with Sam's wedding!!!!! More on that later :)

I'm up for an 'official' get together sometime soon. We are already travelling to Prague in a few weeks time as well as Vienna, Bratislava and Hungary - naturally all those would work well for me on those dates :) After that though, we have plans to return to London for a week or so as well and I could try to tack on anything there if we get some kind of general consensus. Dublin seems like another nice option to me - particularly on the beer front. London's pubs closing at 11PM is a bit of a bummer for a night out! Oh, and Sam's arm can usually be twisted as well - although we won't hear from him for the next two weeks while he's off honeymooning :)

Hien, I noticed the Malaysian get together thread earlier - seems we TP'ers like seeing people 'in the scales' !!

Cheers, Peter

if we had it in Dublin it would be handy for me !!! Good one Peter !!! ;)there are loads of cheap flights to come here at the moment so it wouldn't be too expensive that way, as for opening hours it depends where you are but its no where near as early as 11 !!! the only thing i should mention to be fair is that the beer isn't anywhere as cheap as E. Europe.......

I admit to liking Dublin, but it's not the easiest or quickest trek for me, and would probably be more expensive (both travel and beer), but i'd be game for it, or virtually anywhere else.

Thinking about it (seconds too late, hence 2 replies ), Dublin is probably not that bad to get to for me - it's only going to be about 29hours and, urm, depending how lucky i get between 6 and 10 trains, 2 ferries and a couple of tube/bus/dart transfers. Which possibly sounds bad, but it's a fairly normal trip for me, and would probably be good fun. I could even pick up other TPers on route, Pied piper style!

Ok, (killing time at work, hence my random warbling on) what about a sort of poll, to try and get a rough consensus...

If we assume it would be a weekend and somewhere in Europe, Which is preferable for you (or you definitely can't do):

July
August
September
later in year?
Doesn't matter

UK somewhere
Dublin / Ireland
Northern Europe
Eastern Europe
Southern Europe
Don't mind

I'm in both don't mind categories, although i would need a a bit of notice to ensure i wasn't working somewhere which would make travel there/back impossible, so would have to be late July or afterwards. Btw, if anybody happens to be in South East England/London and free during the week, i'll be there and approx free 12-16July.

If people want to either post replies here (or even PM them to me if you want), i can collate dates etc if people are vaguely serious in interest and may even turn up!

for me Dublin is of course the easiest and means I wouldn't have to take time off work which would be handy as our busiest times are the summer months, if its going to be somewhere else, for me it would have to be either Sept or end of Nov..............sorry to be so awkward !!

Dublin would be easiest for me also or maybe Eastern Europe I don't mind though - I'd be pretty happy to fly out pretty much anywhere - whether it be Canada, USA, Europe or wherever

Anytime after July and before November is good for me Possibly September would be the best month

Ok, well here's a set of dates that work for very well for me as I am already going to be in these places:

Prague - 9,10,11 July
Vienna - 12 & 20,21,22 July
Bratislava - 13,14,15 July
Budapest - 16,17,18,19 July

On the 22nd we now have plans to go to London for a week, SO 22nd - 29th July will be good for London and possibly also Dublin as I could tack on a trip there quite easily. Oh, and another option that I could consider for those same dates is Amsterdam. I know this is usually a cheapish option for flights as well and I have family, friends there. The beer does come in very small glasses though! Much prefer the Brussels option, if beer were the deciding factor.

After that Melbourne is great! ;) Also there is a good chance that I will be coming back to Europe later in August, but that isn't confirmed yet! Perhaps an early September option would work out well for me if that were to happen.

Oh, and you know what -- I loved Edinburgh as well, so would be more than happy to go back there!!
