superdupersuki has indicated that this thread is about Spain

I've been searching everywhere, but I don't see any feasible options for visiting Figueres and Cadaques from Barcelona in one day?

I contacted ArtHostal, but you need to be staying there to go on the daytrip with them.

If you rent a car, it's easily doable in a day. We did that.

There's a train from Barcelona to Figueres, 90 minutes one way, about 15 euro roundtrip according to this page. From Figueres you can take a bus to Cadaqués, which should be approximately 1 hour one way (45min by car).

This company organises bus trips from Barcelona to Cadaqués.

I hope this helped.

I noticed that most of the rental cars are manual, and the automatic ones are quite expensive to rent. I think we will have to do more research on this.

I think our plan is to take a train to Figueres, bus to Cadaques and bus back to Figueres before taking a train back to Barcelona, but it seems like so many trips...

Thanks a lot for the info!

that's the option but beware of the departing hours.. it's difficult to match between train and bus
in my case, i wanted to go to cadaques but got stucked in figueres (the nice shoe shops and the museum) and finally couldn't take the bus
there will be a next time i guess

The train from Barcelona to Figueres is a very good option, I take it regularly ( about twice a week ) and it's always on time. It's called "Catalunya Express" and as the other travel mate said its 1 hour and 40 minutes and 15 or 16 euros for a round trip, much cheaper than taking a bus.. If you really want to go, I'd suggest you take this train. There's another type called "regional" but the journey from Barcelona to Figueres takes forever, about 2 hours and 35 or 40 minutes. It's about 1,5 or 2 euros cheaper, but it doesn't make up, believe me.
However, I have to say that the buses that run from Figueres to the rest of Costa Brava, are not usually as good as trains. I live in a city close to Figueres, and they're not on time, but always in a 15 or 20 minute delay. the main bus company that has this route is called "Sarfa".
Cadaqués is such a beautiful town by the sea. Cars are not allowed to go into the city centre I think, not in summertime anyway. If I were you I wouldn't spend much time in Figueres, unless you want to see the Dalí museum.

Hehe in France? No, it's in the north east of Spain, in Costa Brava. there's a castle called Sant Ferran, didn't mention that last night. Could it be the same figueres? :D
